The importance of being recognized as a subject in contemporary times

Nowadays, one of the most useful and interesting ways to learn, is being aware of and to have some advices about the reality of students and the way of seeing them, in class. This new instruments are very used during these days. I am talking about movies, lyrics, trailers, to improve educational changes every day. A useful way to be aware of how the relationships between students and teachers have changed since Modernity could be by using this movie “Modern Time”. It is because in this movie we can compare the relationship between employees in factories with bosses and the relationship given in class between teachers and students during the last two centuries.
For example, one of the disadvantages showed in “Modern Time” with Charlie Chaplin as protagonist is, the way of seeing of people with power to poor one. It means, wealthy people do not see their employee as subject, indeed, they consider them as object that in every circumstances they can throw away because those workers can be replaced by machine. If we compare this situation with students, we can say that they either are not seeing like a persona. Instead of that, teachers and school consider students as simple objects who have to follow instruction and rules. They have to memorize instead of think, etc, because teachers are with the power and they are perfect, they never make mistakes, and so forth. Therefore, students have to respect their educators, they have to produce just what teachers say, they can not talk and give opinion, etc. As a consequence, students could have lower self esteem, they are not interest in study anymore, and the relationship between teacher and student is distance, cold as we saw in the film between workers and bosses.
On the other hand, we have some advantages that could be useful for us to learn how to teach and act in front of students in a better way. For example, when employees have to work, they have to be cooperative and working as a team to have good results in their jobs. In other words, they have to be in solidarity, respecting each other and being aware of their rights and duties in their job. Other example observed in the film was, when all workers were on strike (they work together by the same reason). In that sense, they could work better than being alone because all of them were acting for one reason, in that case, for new jobs opportunities because of the lack of job, food in their homes, the lack of good health, education, etc. This experience helps us to find ways to improve our school and the relationship in the class with our students that make us to work better, being cooperative, without giving too much punishment like hits and things like that, using some experiences like “The Age of Industrialization” to improve and get some ideas about how to not commit the same mistakes, errors as they did in those years. It could be a good beginning of improving our school and our process of teaching.
In conclusion, time does not mean we are changing too much in good things as fast as we want. We need to be patient but also with willingness to eliminate bad manners appreciated during those times with more power than nowadays. If we want that students were motivated to study, being educated, with good manners, respectful and so on, we must work hard on that and we have to see our students as equal as we are. I am talking about that both (teachers and students) have the same rights to participate in class; both can participate as listener and speaker. As Hernández, F. said in his book “La importancia de ser reconocido como sujeto” all human being have to be respected, heard and not discriminated by their social condition because all of us want to participle and give their opinion because we are not an object, we are subjects with different viewpoints, culture, traditions, families, etc. therefore, those aspects give us our identity and the way in which we act in front other. That is why school should be a good instrument in that case to improve and teach our students how to develop in the actual society. It also it helps us to improve our teaching and relationship with our students to have a more pleasant environment, with the will of studying, share, and so on.
Students need to “fall in love” again with education. Therefore, we have to help on that and give our mayor effort to produce more interesting and dynamic lessons, talking their life and experiences that can be used as example in class, be aware that students every time are changing. Therefore, we have to adapt their worries, ideas, etc. to be a good complement and helper to solve their doubts, worries, etc. The idea in conclusion is to find better ways to work together in a peaceful environment as the character done at the end of the film because they prefer to find different way to be happy. The only thing we need to have is disposition and daring to seek new ways and challenges.

What culture and civilization means for us.

In my opinion, the word culture means, they way in which a group of people share similar thoughts, traditions, lifestyle, beliefs, rules, territory, and so on. That is why they are able to share together and working for something in specific (Although, those people can change through the time)
In the case of civilization, for me this word means like a stage of time in which culture is influenced for civilization, it is a “new view point” in which our lifestyle change, economy, technology, and all those things. Civilization means as an improvement of thinking, in which human being, in that case people are improving or not their life with those new things that are increasing and invading our life. It is supposed that civilization would be useful and important for human but in some cases it isn’t because of the problems that it could bring.
Finally, critical thinking means, the way in which people can give their point of view about something, and also they are brave to express it in front of others. I think, it is very good way to share with others our own opinion, belief and argument about something. Where you are able to produce and talk about something that maybe could be taboo for us, etc.

Modern Times and Elizabeth "The Golden Age"

"Modern Times"

First of all, I have to say that I really like this movie. It showed us perfectly what was happening during this century with the industrialization and the effect of that. For example, we could be aware industry changed people by machine, why? Because machine was cheaper than an employee, what consequences it has? Less work for people because many of them came from the countryside to the city to get a job so, workers had less opportunity to get a job, manifestation increased too much and also puberty, the lack of food, etc. were presented in those years.
Modernity brought to people’s life many changes like: the use of new instrument, how to acquire, use it, etc. For example, people started to use bicycle, cars, train, new ways of communication like telephone, radio, etc. In that case, I think the modernity brought many good things like creation of instrument to use in every day but also, it brought difficulties to get a job, to support a family, etc.




ELIZABETH "THE GOLDEN AGE"

As we all ready know about Elizabeth’s Queen through classes and film. I have to say she was very important in British's History. She was a very strong girl who had to deal with many conflicts as we saw on the movie. For example, as she was against to the main religious on Europe, Catholicism, she had to fight with Spain to defend her empire, land, etc. That's why she felt with the obligation to defend the country because she was the face or she represented England people. As a consequence, she gave her life to England, letting all the things that it is suppose a woman have to do (get a husband, have a relationship with someone, etc. I am referring to feelings, happiness, etc), she made that England had power in Europe, creating a new religion, etc.
I believe she was very brave being a woman those years in which women weren’t important to the society. At least, she could demonstrate that women are able to participate in the society, have power, etc.
Referring to why she was called “the Virgin Queen”, it brought many consequences. First, as she was the queen of England, she had to live for her empire, letting a normal life in which she could have a husband, a baby, etc. As a consequence, she was called, “the Virgin Queen” so, she had like the responsibility to continue with her stated of single. Something that for me wasn’t so interesting, I mean, every human being have the possibility to do with their life whatever they want so, we have to accept them with their decisions.

Native and Immigrants

To be honest, I thought that United Kingdom since their first days of life was a unique identity. I did not know why but I was wrong.
During the last class, I could realize that UK is as common as us or another country in which the country has been influenced for many cultures, languages, traditions, etc. Therefore, I can say that immigrants are very important to develop a nation, society, culture, etc. because thanks of that, the identity of UK in this case was urbanized.
Something that really paid my attention was that English comes from more languages like Greek and Germany. It is so amazing an unbelievable for me.
In the other hand, we have the influence of British to other countries like Australia, Canada, and United State. In that case, we can see that every culture, country, place, whatever has influence from other place. It could be positive or negative but equally, they have an impact in each identity.
I do not have more words to say that immigrants and native works together to contribute and create something new.

Hi everyone, I am going to talk about my expectation for this class “Civilization and Culture.”
As we are studying English, I think that this class is necessary because we are going to learn about cultures as our own. In the case of United Kingdom and American culture. I think that could be an interesting thing because in my case, I do not have knowledge about that.
I love United Kingdom. Therefore,I want to learn about it. I think this Kindgdom has many secrets and beautiful thing that if I learn here I am going to be impressed.
This class will help us enter a world hitherto unknown for us. It will open our mind reflecting and making many question about the influence of those culture in our culture and the other culture that there are in world.

My blogging experience

LANGUAGE 5 BLOGGING EXPERIENCE

It's kind of difficult to begin with this post because I have to express many things. First of all, when I heard we had to work in the computer, I did not like the idea because in the first year, we had to do the same but it was not interesting like this blog. But my point of view about using the internet has changed positively.
Plus, I learnt to use the computer and the internet more. Although I always have had problems with internet because I don't know how to use it, now I can say that I have learnt more about that. I can even upload pictures in my blog!
I don’t know if I am improving my writing but at least now, I am in the habit of writing more. Nevertheless, I can write about many topics that before I could not write about because I did not have much vocabulary. I always had to use the language translator.
The homeworks were interesting, not that easy sometimes but it does not mean that they were boring.
One of the things that I really liked was the wordle's homework. It was so interesting because if you don't want the other person to know what are you talking about, this instrument can help you because it is difficult for someone to understand what you are trying to say. Besides, you can choose your font, colour and types of wordle.
How can I forget the blogathon! I think that this idea was excellent. I could not do my blogathon everyday like I wanted; I try to do my best effort to be responsible for my homework.
Using this site was a great experience. I think that it is a good way to improve and practice another language like we are doing now. I believe that we might continue with this task. It is not a boring site, you can create and decorate your own blog as you like,etc. Plus,you have a site on the internet , something I never imagined having.

Well, to decide what theme to use for my essay,it was kind of difficult because both toke my attention. The final answer is Motivation, a good topic to talk especially in education where it needs more than anything. Thank of our own experience in our Elab, I can see this problems because teachers are not concerned to motive students. So, have read this article, makes me feel motivate to choose this topic.
In my essay, I'm going to talk about the lack of motivation in school.Why is necessary to motive, taking support of some writer and by own experiences about that. Finally, I'll try to give some advised.

What do I like to read?

Hi everybody!!

It's difficult to say just one type of book because I like many kind of book. For example, I enjoy reading real life cases such as drug addiction, relationship with parents, friends and boy girlfriend. there is a Mexican writer name Carlos Cuauhtémoc Sánchez who writes about that. I recommend to read his book like "Juventud en éxtasis", "Volar sobre el Pantano", "Un grito Desesperado", "La fuerza de Sheccid",etc.
Other writer that I like to read is Isabel Allende. I have read "La casa de los espíritus", "De amor y de sombra".
How I am not going to tell about Harry Potter's book made by J.K Rowling !! I really like this kind of book, fantasy book. To be honest, when Harry Potter's book were famous, for my it was not important and relevant to read. But when I saw the movie, and found that it was interesting. So, I decided to read it (there are better than the movie) because you are able to imagine it. I like magic!

I don't have a specific place to read. If I like the book, the place is no important to me. Just it has to be comfortable.

I like to read when I have free time to read book that I like for example on vacation or in holidays thought, I don't have time to read now.

What would you like to learn?
Excellent question!
For my this question is so typical. I would like to study many thing but one of the most important is to study many language such as French, Italian, Portuguese and Mandarin Chinese because I would like to be a language interpreter to travel to other places and to have contact with foreign .
I would like to learn how to play violin, charango and to dance "Break dance" because I like to dance a lot.
Uff, my list is very long. I'm a person who likes to learn many thing. For example, my mother taught me to knit and cook. So, I can do it know. Indeed,I made a bag, a wallet, snood, etc. It's fantastic right?

Hy everybody!
I really like pets and f course I have one. It’s a dog “Snoopy” ha-ha yeah as Snoopy of Charlie Brown. He is 9 years old.
He is very crazy!! When he was a puppy, he ran, ran and played with his ball all of time. I love him. Although, he has destroyed many things like my cloth, furniture, etc. He is continuing with as because he is part of our family.
Also, I would like to have other pets like a cat and a horse but, my house is small. If my parents had a house in the country, I would have it.

I’ll like to show you my dog but my computer was sick and my cousin last Wednesday fixed it.

Do schools kill creativity?

Hi everyone,
In this occasion, I 'm going to talk about school and if there are killing creativity as said Ken Robinson.
In my opinion, I absolutely agree with him. Nowadays, school are not worry to open their main to create and to help children for developing their capacity to be creative like a dancer, singer, etc. Schools is like a company where they are interest just in money and that their students can study in the university.
Unfortunately, this situation is happening in all the world. They are not able to change education and they are continuing with the same system since centuries ago.

Well, our country, it's not the exception. I do not understand why in school we can not be creativity. I know that there are schools who are interest to let that their student can be as they want. But, they are the minimum. For example, my sister go to one of these schools. It is called "Liceo Experimental Artístico" where they plus to study Math, Language, History, etc. they can decide one of the creative subject like Music (play guitar, play violin, play piano, etc) ,Theater, Dance (Folklore, ballet or modern dance) , Paint and others.
In my experience,I had the same reality that nowadays we are having in our school. They have rules, you can not do they thing that you want, you can make MISTAKES (are we silly if we make mistakes?.

Well, this topics I found so interesting. I hope that schools could change their idea about study because we are not object, we are people.

Dream vacation

Ohhh very good topic. I really like it.

Personally,I would spend my dream vacation in Europe. I love Europe, their culture, building and stuff like that. Also, I would like to travel around the world( hahaha), I'm not joking. But my priority is to have vacation in England and to visit Easter Island, a place so beautiful of our country where you can find many green areas, beaches and nice people. I would like to live there although, you don't have many opportunities to work. But the beauty of this place anything can change.

I am a person who likes to know about other culture and if I can to know it and visit it is better. That's my biggest dream. I hope that it could be reality.

What would I do?

In thism time, I'm going to talk about dreams. What types of dreams? Well I'm talking about dreams you want to became reality.

One of those dreams is to be a good speaker of English language and otherlanguage too. I want to go out from Chile with my family to visit many countries like England, France,India, etc. There are many! Well,at least one of them. Or I would like to go to Easter Island because I love the weather, nature, beaches and all the things from This beautiful Island.

Doomsday?

To be honest, I don't think that in 2012 is going to be the end of the world. I t's going to be a simple year as other. I know that many people are speaking about that because in the Maya's calendar apear that in 2012 is going to happed something.

Well, there are many ideas about that but, what happended in 2000? NOTHING. So, I think that in this ocassion is going to be the same.

In my case, in 2012,I would like to finish my studies feeling proud myself as many of us.

Victory City

The "Future City"?

Well to be honest, I don't like this creation.When I just watched this site,I thought that it's would be better but Victory City is not. In my opinion,It is something so irrealistic and uncomfortable. You don't have more privacy that your BEDROOM! It awful.
Your life pass most of the time in this building, you don't have your own kitchen, dinning room, etc. You have to share with many people in those places. I 'm not selfish but I think that you have to take your place to share with your friends, relatives, family.

If you consider the cost that this city, you could say that is cheaper but you don't have the same amenities that you have now. For example your house is going to be smaller that yours.

I think the person who created this idea and thought about it.They wanted to change and improve our life especially take caring of environment and countryside.I agree on that, but the way that they are using is sofisticated, maybe impossible if we think how is our planet today.

I f we think about how Santiago is going to be in 2050. I absolutely sure that it is not going to be like Victory City. First, we have to change and improve other things to be like this City.Althought, I would not like that Santiago will be like this.

Paranormal events!

I like this kind of thing!!

It's very interesting to know about paranormal events, specially if you have lived ones. In my case, I haven't.

Well my mother told me that when my grandmother died. She came to say goodbye when I was sleeping. My father was witnnes and said me that I was talking to her in the dream. Something amazing, but I could not remember nothing.

I am someone who really like to watch programs, movies, etc. about this topic. I like to feel fear and chills when I talk about this with my friends.

One of the thing that I would like to do is to go to the cemetery at night. I want to know what it feels. Does anyone want to accompany me to the "Cementerio General"?.

It is very difficult to choose my favourite movie!
I could see that many of my classmate like "Life is Beautiful" and "Les Choristes".So to not repeat these movies, I'm going to talk about "Jurassic Park".

Actors like Sam Neil, Laura Dern, Jeff Goldblum and Samuel L. Jackson acted in this movie.

This is a science fiction movie. It's about cloned dinosaurs in an amusemt park on the island Nublar. Where a group of people like scientists and normal people from the USA were invited to inspect the park. Unfortunately, the cages didn't work, the dinosaurs escaped,and the people were attacked by them. In the end, the people tried to escape from the island because this experience was awful for them.
I like this movie because it's about dinosaurs who seem very realistic, as a result of the special effects. It's so realistic that when you watch the movie you feel that you are inside of the park. I think that this feeling makes the movie interesting.

If you haven't seen the movie yet, I recommend that you see it.

My favourite English song

Hi every body,
In this occasion, I am going to talk about a band, It is called SCLUB7. They were a pop band from United Kingdom to 2003.

The first time that I heard and watched, it was on a TV Programs from Nickelodeon. They were characters of a youth serie where they sang, worked and lived in U.S.A to get their dreams came true.Also, they made a film, a documentary of endangered animals and they made three series and of course they had six albums.

Well, I like this band because in these years, I was a preteen and these kind of music for us were fantastic. Although nowadays I like too and I have good memories of those times.

I supposed that many of you heard about them. If you didn't, you can find information on Wikipedia about them.

Well,I chose this song because I like the video,the lyric, melody,etc. I think that it is a beautiful romantic song and it has feelings that every body can have it. I don't have word to express exactly what I try to say.

To be honest when I was preteen, I did not understand the lyric and I just sang it.

ABOUT BBC´S SITE
Well, what I watched on the( )BBC ´s site was the part of the grammar, vocabulary and most
specifically in pronunciation. I heard all the pronunciation tips,(P) I think that was the best thing I read and I heard because we have a subject called phonetics. So, those tips are too important to understand how to prononce(Sp) in the best way, and obviously the other person you are talking
with(ww) get the idea. The other thing that I look around was the grammar challenge topics(P) there are too many things to review, learn and practice.Sometimes I think ^ I've learnt so much english(C), however, there are too many things to know about english(ww) . So, I know we never finish to learn(F). For that reason, there are poweful(Sp) tools like the tips I heard and exersices(Sp)I did. I hope with these kind of exercices(Sp) improve my english(C) at least in a 50%.

Well, in her blog you can read topic like “Complain, Easter Holidays and BBC’S site”, and of course she talks about her opinion about these topic. To be honest, I think that she has excellent arguments. Her opinions are absolutely understanding and realistic.Cynthia doesn't have problems to express and write or say her ideas.

Plus, I could say that her favourite colour is pink because of the colour of her blog is pink . About her layout I think that is no so sophisticated, she could add other think like new pictures from internet or wherever.
Something that I found beautiful and very useful is the calendar that she has. Even she gave me the idea to add in my blog a calendar because I don't know much of internet.

Sometnhig that can change our society

The reason to send you this letter is to inform you that something that nowadays really worries me is the little concern to have at least one national day dedicate to do exercise in family. Because of the bad life that families are having. For example they are eating many junk foods and have a bad alimentation and because our country is letting behind do exercise to have healthy life.
I know last year it was possible but I think that this have to be more frequency. First this habit is going to help that parents share and spend more time with their children. It’s going to improve and help our health in a good way. Finally it could increase that those days community has a day totally different, out of worries, works, homework, etc.
I`m glad that you could read my letter and I hope that you can think about that. I think that habit could change our society.

At Easter, my family and I go to Catholic Church because we are participants of the chorus. Therefore, we participate in all the activities that could be on those days. For example, Holy Thursday we celebrate “the last supper” and on night Saturday we celebrate “vigil” this moment is so beautiful because we share the resurrection of Jesus with candles(It look nice).

Hi everybody,

In this time I’m going to talk about a great site, this is the BBC site.
To be honest, I had never seen this page before but I really liked it. You can find how to pronounce words in English, crossword, quizzes, learn grammar and vocabulary, and things like that.
What thing I liked of this page? Many things but in special videos of pronunciation because you can improve your spoken English, also is helpful because you can see the differences the sounds that have words that are very similar when you listen it but, there are different in meaning, spelling and sound. For example, ship and cheap.
Other thing interesting of this site is that you can learn how to cook because here they teaching you. You can find a lot of recipe as “Lemon potatoes” and “Spring rolls”.

Well, to finish I recommend this page, especially for us because we can practice and learn more about English in a good way.
